THE SHOW
Seasoned percussionist, Dr. Z (Dr. Tom Zirkle), invades the WEvent Space with a lineup of talented local collaborators for what promises to be an improvisational night of live music and visual arts.
This show is FREE to the community as part of our ongoing arts and culture night series. Swing by, grab a drink, and support local artists.
THE ARTISTS
Dr. Thomas Zirkle is a career percussionist, composer, and program coordinator/professor of music at STLCC-Forest Park.
In his 40-year career, Thomas has spent a considerable amount of time in Asia researching traditional percussion music, culture, language, and intercultural exchanges. He uses this research to write instructional books on instruments from around the world, including the riq from the Middle East, congas, marimba, and frame drums.
THE SPACE
The WEvent Space is a distinctive venue located in the heart of the Tower Grove South neighborhood, set within a beautifully restored church. Embracing the spirit of its historic roots, the space provides a laid-back, welcoming setting for a wide array of local live acts. Central to its mission is the WEConcert Series—an ongoing effort to reestablish the former church as a vibrant hub and gathering place for the community. Through music, art, and connection, WEvent Space invites all to be part of a shared creative experience in one of the neighborhood’s most unique venues.
