THE SHOW
Join us for a showing of local fine arts, featuring a curated selection of paintings and ceramics. Whether you are looking to take in the St. Louis art scene or pick up a holiday gift for the art lover in your life, the works on display are not to be missed!
THE ARTISTS
James Ibur is Professor of Art and Coordinator of Ceramics for the Department of Communications, Design and Creative Arts at Saint Louis Community College-Meramec. He is a multi-disciplinary artist and curator with emphases on functional and sculptural ceramics, painting and drawing and is also a songwriter and musician with one solo record (Floating-2024) and four records with his band, Flying House (including Blood Red Moon, 2025).
Danny Bess is a painter working in explorations of color, movement, velocity, and time. His use of color relationships and impactful brush marks imply speed and capture the energy of the art making process. Regardless of subject, the figures in his pieces reflect a motion and tempo as if translating a musical score. The goal is to emulate music visually. In describing his art, Bess stated, “I never reject any mark I make while painting; I accept them all. Through this acceptance, I hope to find something that is representational in the portrait I paint, but executed with the non-representational freedom of music.”
Alicia Jackson is the founder of ArtRise Leadership Training, creating community art initiatives that merge emotional intelligence with creativity. Jackson teaches leaders how to cultivate empathy and connection in their teams through hands-on, heart-forward experiences that spark real transformation. In her own art, Jackson has always been drawn to “seeing the truth beneath the surface, understanding the depth of unspoken stories, quiet emotions, unseen threads that connect us as people.” Her work is a practice of curiosity through art, creating pieces where the canvas is revealing a hidden layer beneath; a process that would eventually become the foundation her signature tactile Lumen Peel™ technique.
Craig Vucinovich is an engineer by day, creating art in his spare time without the expectation of displaying it. His works rely on confident line and evocative curves to walk the line between mathematics and expressionism. His figures are reminiscent of the minimalist works of David Cantu or Pablo Picasso, with a movement and style all his own. When others discovered Vucinovich’s cache of artworks they insisted he share them with the world, so this will be his first gallery showing; given the response we have already received, it will likely not be his last.
THE SPACE
The WEvent Space is a distinctive venue located in the heart of the Tower Grove South neighborhood, set within a beautifully restored church. Embracing the spirit of its historic roots, the space provides a laid-back, welcoming setting for a wide array of local live acts. Central to its mission is the WEConcert Series—an ongoing effort to reestablish the former church as a vibrant hub and gathering place for the community. Through music, art, and connection, WEvent Space invites all to be part of a shared creative experience in one of the neighborhood’s most unique venues.
